Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who gets to see it, and how to change or delete it. In plain English.
Last updated: 2 August 2026
1. Who we are
This policy applies to addy real estate, a Canberra agency operating under Corporate Licences 18404251 and 18404252, at 102/27 Lonsdale Street, Braddon ACT 2612.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Where we act as a selling agent or property manager, we also handle information under the Agents Act 2003 (ACT) and the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (ACT).
2. What we collect
We only ask for what we actually need. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
If you enquire, book an appraisal or request a pitch deck
- Your name, mobile number and email address
- The address of the property you are asking about
- Details about that property: bedrooms, bathrooms and car spaces
- For management enquiries: whether it is currently tenanted, who manages it now, and when you would want us to start
- Anything else you choose to type into a notes or message field
If you apply for a rental property
We take rental applications through 2Apply, a platform operated by the Reapit group. Applying involves giving more information than a general enquiry, and can include:
- Identity information and supporting documents, such as a driver licence or passport
- Employment and income details, and supporting evidence
- Your rental history, and contact details for previous agents or landlords
- References, and details of anyone who would be living with you, including pets and vehicles
We use this to assess your application and to give the property owner what they need to make a decision. We share the information with the owner of the property you have applied for. If your application is unsuccessful, we do not pass it on to other owners without your consent.
If you are a tenant in a property we manage
- Your contact and tenancy details
- Maintenance requests you submit, including photos, descriptions of the problem and access arrangements
- Records of rent payments, inspections and correspondence
If you buy, sell or lease through us
- Identity and contact details, and the information needed for the agreement and the transaction
- Records of offers, inspections, instructions and correspondence
We do not seek sensitive information, such as health information, unless it is genuinely necessary and you have consented.
3. Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiry and send you the appraisal, pitch deck or information you asked for
- To provide our services: selling, leasing and managing property
- To assess rental applications and put them to the property owner
- To arrange repairs and maintenance, and to instruct tradespeople on your behalf
- To meet our obligations as a licensed agent, including record keeping and trust accounting
- To send you updates you have opted in to, and to improve how we work
If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to help you.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to do the job:
- Property owners and tenants, where the information relates to a property we manage or are selling, including rental applications we put to an owner
- Reapit, whose platforms we use to run the agency. That includes 2Apply, which handles rental applications, and the systems that manage our listings and client records
- Tradespeople and contractors, so they can carry out repairs and maintenance
- Tapi, the maintenance platform behind the "Report maintenance" tool in our tenant hub. What you submit through that tool goes to Tapi and then to us
- Netlify, which hosts this website and processes the enquiry forms on it
- Our professional advisers and insurers, such as accountants and lawyers
- Government bodies, courts and tribunals, where the law requires or permits it
Where we engage a service provider, we ask them to handle your information consistently with this policy.
5. Storage and overseas disclosure
Some of the services we use store data outside Australia. Our website hosting and enquiry form submissions are handled by Netlify, which stores data on servers in the United States and other locations. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. What the website collects
We do not run advertising trackers or profiling cookies on this site.
- Our host keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
- We load our typeface from Google Fonts. Loading a font makes a request to Google's servers, which involves your IP address. That request is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
- The maintenance tool in the tenant hub only loads when you open it, so nothing is sent to Tapi unless you choose to use it.
7. Marketing and opting out
If you have given us your details, we may send you occasional property updates or our newsletter. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and we act on unsubscribes promptly, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can also just email or call and tell us to stop. We will not take it personally.
8. Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. That includes access controls on our systems and choosing reputable service providers. No system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, and for as long as we are required to keep it as a licensed agent. Agency and tenancy records generally must be kept for a number of years after a transaction or tenancy ends. Once we no longer need it and are not required to keep it, we destroy it or de-identify it.
10. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email hello@myaddy.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify who you are first. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if that happens we will tell you why.
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first at hello@myaddy.com.au so we can try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version always lives at this address, with the date it was last updated at the top.
